Fans of Orange County Choppers might already know this, but the show that airs this week includes a visit to Kannapolis. That’s right, our friends at Stewart-Haas Racing will be featured on the TLC show as they take delivery of the bike that was commissioned by team co-owner Haas Automation.
The episode airs Thursday, Feb. 4 at 9 p.m. on TLC.

Part of my job entails cruising the internet (or interwebs as I like to call it) for mentions of Kannapolis. Often times these searches merely pull things that I am fully aware of, good or bad.
Right before Christmas, this caught my eye. It appears as if Stewart-Haas Racing (located in the Gateway Business Park) is holding a CAD/CAM design competition with the reward of a scholarship and a trip to Kannapolis for the winner to tour the race shop and CNC facility.
How cool is that? Maybe it is my past life working with CAD/CAM software companies that makes this interesting to me, or because of its reminder that manufacturing is still an important industry, albeit very different than what we’ve been accustomed to in the past.
